After all, we're already starting to see some games require more than 8GB of VRAM when it comes to playing games on higher quality settings - Watch Dogs Legion, for example - and this may affect the RX 6600 XT's overall longevity for max settings chasers. Indeed, while the RX 6600 XT's 8GB of GDDR6 memory is nothing to sniff at, it's still a bit disappointing to see it doesn't match the 12GB you'll find on both Nvidia's RTX 3060, and AMD's more upmarket RX 6700 XT. While there's no denying AMD's latest is a powerful graphics card - as my benchmark results will soon make clear - you still get a lot more by going with Nvidia at the moment, both on the specs side and when it comes to ray tracing support. Personally, I'd probably still wait for Nvidia's RTX 3060 to come back on sale rather than ploughing on with the RX 6600 XT at the moment. The great graphics card shortage continues to thwart new hardware buyers, and I suspect the RX 6600 XT will probably follow the same path as every other next-gen graphics card has before it this year: appear for two minutes, then disappear into a fog of jacked up prices and 'out of stock' stickers. It's a decent shout for anyone still trying to get their hands on a next-gen graphics card, although whether you'll be any more successful trying to actually buy one when it goes on sale tomorrow remains to be seen. Base / Boost Clock Speed: 1968MHz / 2589MHz. ![]() Far from 'just' being a high performing 1080p card, the RX 6600 XT is also a very capable GPU for playing games at 2560x1440 as well, able to hit a smooth 60fps or above on High settings in pretty much every game in my benchmarking suite. Announced just a couple of weeks ago at China Joy, the Radeon RX 6600 XT is being pitched as AMD's ultimate 1080p graphics card in their next-gen RX 6000 family - although to say this card is only good at playing games at 1920x1080 is actually doing it a disservice in my eyes. At long last, AMD's answer to Nvidia's RTX 3060 has arrived.
